OSIS participated in Belgrade Security Conference (BSC), which took part on 18-20 November 2024 in Belgrade. BSC the is the biggest high-level Western Balkan conference on foreign policy and security. The conference, organized by the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP), is a by-invitation-only gathering of over 500 globally influential people, regional officials, domestic decision-makers, and opinion-formers. It gathers world leaders, diplomats, representatives of international organisations, think-tankers, journalists, activists, academics, and all the brave thinkers who shape the present to influence a better future. The over 500 participants in the Belgrade Security Conference (BSC), with more than 80 panellists took part in over 16 panels, including on:
- The World after the U.S. and EU Elections
- Europe Surviving and Thriving in the Geopolitical Age
- Political Development in Eastern Europe in Light of Russian Aggression
- Revisiting Human Security in Southeast Europe: The Role of Regional Cooperation
- Public Assembly Under Threat: Safeguarding
- Youth in the Balkans: Settling up their parents’ wars
- Navigating Challenges: How Bilateral Disputes influence Domestic Reforms in North Macedonia’s EU Journey
- A “Growth Plan” for the EU? Western Balkans and the Future of the Single Market
OSIS participation at the conference was related to Think Tanks for the Future of EU Enlargement Program (https://thenextmile.eu/)and the cooperation with notable think tanks in the EU – i.e. “Balkan Hubs” – including DGAP in Germany, Jacques Delors Institute in France, Clingendael Institute in the Netherlands, and Carnegie Europe, and cooperation with the Open Society Foundations – Western Balkans.
